Roshan timer and Aegis windows
Roshan is not a panic button. It is an information objective. This guide covers vision, Aegis conversion, and when to refuse the pit.
Roshan is an information objective
Most pubs treat Roshan like a panic button. Ahead teams take it late. Behind teams take it desperate. Both fail when nobody has vision, nobody tracked Aegis timing, and nobody knows whether enemy ultimates are ready.
Use the ward vision guide before every pit attempt. Use cooldown tracking for the spells that punish pit commitments.

Aegis windows in plain English
When Roshan dies, the Aegis clock starts. Your job is to convert that clock into an objective: tower, high ground, or a forced fight on your terms. If you take Aegis and then farm disconnected jungle camps, you donated gold to the enemy respawn timers.
- Clear vision around the pit before you commit.
- Assign who gets Aegis before the kill, not after the argument.
- Move as a group toward a real objective.
- Track the next Roshan spawn instead of forgetting until chat panics.
When not to take Roshan
If three enemy heroes are missing and you have no detection, do not start. If your buyback gold is scattered and theirs is ready, do not start. If their mid ultimate is available and yours is not, reconsider. Ego pit starts are free MMR for the other team.
Using a Roshan timer tool
The Roshan timer on DOTA2 Cheats removes guesswork about spawn windows. Still bring vision. Still bring a plan. Official map and objective knowledge stays useful from Liquipedia Roshan.
